Lorraine Buxton

Hi thank you for taking the time to find out about me. I’m Lorraine, I live in Sheffield, but spend most of my time with my husband in our lakeside caravan. I am the author of 6 books, my latest one is the third in the Mayfield collection. Mayfield is a fictional village, with a community that does its best to help and support others. The books Mayfield Book Corner, Mayfield Eats & Treats, and the latest Mayfield Blooms and Balloons, are all shops on the high street in the village. Their owners are all very different, but their lives have the twists and turns, the drama and serenity, the secrets and the truths that we all understand is part of family life. With relatable characters, who I hope you’ll come to love, that experience life, love, loss and laughter, along with fear, excitement, resilience and determination. Living in a village can be difficult, as our characters find, but there is always someone there offering support, with a shoulder to cry on, or a determination to carry on. Visit Mayfield and you’ll feel like you’ve had a rollercoaster ride, seen lovely scenery, been in the company of genuine people and enjoyed a warm hug, along with a cup of Yorkshire tea.

My first book was Tapestry of Life, and is a collection of poetry that explores the hope and resilience found in life, nature, friendship and love. It received lovely reviews, and I think it is the perfect gift for any occasion.

My first novel A Second Chance, is about the loss of identity, place and belonging, and how family, love and resilience can help us to heal. This also had some great reviews, along with the advice to have some tissues ready.

And then there is Reflections, My Letter to 2023. This was written for a competition asking for the author’s reflection on the previous year. In 2023 my husband was diagnosed with cancer and I decided to enter the competition by writing a letter to that year. Many of us may find ourselves in that situation at any given time, I hope this explains why we made some of the decisions we made. I say we because that diagnosis affected everyone, friends, family, employees, and to anyone who was connected to my husband. My entry was a winner in that competition and I hope it proves helpful to anyone who is going through a similar experience.

I have received some lovely reviews, comments and Facebook posts about my books. People say they love the characters and can’t wait to see what happens next. Life often gives us the twists and turns that you will now come to expect from one of my novels, it is how we deal with the issues life throws at us, and how we accept help and support from those who love us.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has read or is wanting to read my books. Questions and answer sessions are always brilliant. You will find out more about my writing and me at Partnership Publishing. Enjoy your reading let’s talk soon 🤗🌈❤️🙏🌈
