Born in South Florida, I grew up loving the sun and the beaches, and I continue to enjoy the bounty and beauty of the state. I raised my own family here, and so have my children. After college and after my career in law enforcement, I began to write initially to find some way to assuage my emotions of having worked on homicides and other violent crimes, and it was therapy. My books are not Hollywood fantasy but the reality of what people can do to each other and how difficult it is to seek justice.
I enjoy exposing my readers to my imagination, which often takes on a world of its own and has, at times, surprisingly caught me off guard. There is more to my imagination than chasing serial killers and having law enforcement shift through the evidence and emotions in pursuing deranged killers. My first books, Face the Son, Watching the Moon, and Talking with Crows, were cops fought against insanity, but I decided to cross over a bridge into the world of fantasy with Choices. Once I discovered a new format to unleash my imagination, I wrote Stonechyper, a fresh look at the old horrors of werewolves, and Neveah, a lovely and demented vampire.
Life offers us pleasure and pain and affects each of us differently. My life has provided me with insights into the nature of mankind. I have learned to process the world by wrapping my feelings in humor, shock, and creativity. My imagination is my security blanket, my ability to express my feelings and experience through words. My writing is a curse, a pleasure, and hopefully entertainment for the reader.
