Abigail Werner James is a writer, licensed behavior specialist, and youth services library assistant. Her book Autism and Appropriate Touch: A Photocopiable Resource for Helping Children and Teens on the Autism Spectrum Understand the Complexities of Physical Interaction was published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in 2015. Branching from nonfiction resources, she is now encouraging empathy through middle grade novels and other works of fiction. Her short story “Salt and Pepper” won second place in the 2017 Central PA Magazine Writing Contest, and her short story “Strainers” was published in Owl Hollow Press’s anthology, Frontiers: Then, Now, and Beyond, in October 2021. She is an SCBWI member and critique group leader.
