Sola Njoku

Sola Ojikutu Njoku is a children’s author, fiction writer, editor, journalist and mum of two based in the United Kingdom. Her MoyoatiKayin book series (so far published in Yoruba, Igbo and Urhobo) and her new MoyoatiKayin Early Readers series are inspired by her own attempt to help her bilingual and multi-cultural children attain Yoruba speech and reading fluency, and particularly the dearth of written resources that she encountered during this endeavour.

Sola holds an MA in International Journalism and a Bachelors of Science in Communications; she is currently researching Yoruba culture, literature and pedagogy. She has been engaged in literary and culture journalism for over two decades and has worked with many reputable media organisations including the BBC World Service.

Her books, Moyo ati Kayin, Zim na Zaram, Ese ve Ejiro and Labalaba Alaba have been published in a bid to promote early multilingualism as well as create an avenue for children to simultaneously develop a love of languages and literature

– two of Sola’s lifelong passions.
