I'm a lifelong hiker, outdoor writer, and guidebook author who has spent three decades exploring thousands of miles of trails across the United States and beyond—from Colorado's San Juan Mountains to the Swiss Alps, the Himalayas of Nepal to the Southern Alps of New Zealand.

In 1995, before most people had heard of the internet, I founded GORP (Great Outdoor Recreation Pages), one of the web's first major hiking and adventure travel resources. After its acquisition, I launched HikingWalking in 2017, providing detailed trail guides and hiking resources for destinations I love.

My guidebooks combine decades of on-trail experience with practical, detailed information to help hikers of all levels discover extraordinary places. Titles include "Best Hiking in Southwest Colorado around Ouray, Telluride, Silverton and Lake City," "Best Hiking in Central Colorado around Aspen, Marble, Leadville, Buena Vista and Crested Butte," and "Best Hiking in Switzerland in the Valais, Bernese Alps, the Engadine and Davos," covering over 100 trails in the spectacular Swiss Alps.
