Clare Fieseler

I'm a National Geographic explorer, conservation biologist, and photojournalist.

Currently, I'm the Justice Sandra Day O'Connor Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution where I research marine mammals and their conservation across political boundaries. Before that, I earned a PhD in ecology studying climate-threatened reefs around the Caribbean. As a journalist, I've traveled the globe photographing and reporting on climate change, biodiversity threats, and other environmental problems for such outlets as Vox, The Walrus, and The Washington Post. I am a proud New Jersey native and now live with my husband and daughter in Washington, DC.
