Prof John Ikonomopoulos

I was born in 1967 in Athens, Greece, and grew up in a small seaside village on the northern side of the Corinthian Bay.

Even as a kid, I was fascinated by investigations and challenges! Step by step, these challenges led me to the Veterinary School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In 1993, I was awarded with the Master’s in Science degree in Veterinary Microbiology, by the Royal Veterinary College of the University of London. Between 1996 and 1999, I completed my PhD in the Medical School of Athens and in 2002, I was appointed professor in the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. Recently, I had the opportunity to contribute to the foundation of the Hellenic Nanotechnology Society in Health Sciences, and of the European College of Veterinary Microbiology, in which it was my great honor to be elected President, for the period 2016-21.

Today, a father of two, I continue to be intrigued by challenges, one very fascinating of which is the book series titled “Veterinary Medicine for All”, which I sincerely hope you will enjoy!
