Layla Haikal

Layla is the author of The STEM Series: A Trip To Space, her debut book. She’s 12 years old, and hails from Melbourne, Australia.

Layla has an insatiable curiosity and passion for STEM subjects, which is what led her to write The STEM Series books. She wanted other young girls to have the opportunity to experience a world that she’s found so much joy in.

As STEM captain at her primary school, and an iSea iCare ambassador, she wanted to help inspire other young girls to dream big, take action and realise that they too can make an impact on the world.

Layla finds her inspiration from scientists Mary Jackson and Katherine Johnson, among others.

When she isn’t busy writing, Layla enjoys gymnastics, swimming, reading, and karate, where she has obtained a purple belt.
