Ellen Weiss Dodson

Ellen Weiss Dodson has worn many hats,

She plays Chopin easily despite copious flats,

Despite a childhood spent at a piano on stage,

She was quick to push the envelop from an early age.

Whether executive, musician, artist, or wife,

Ms. Dodson likes to wring all she can from her life

Her family begs for her maple cedar-planked salmon

But there aren’t many things she’ll agree to put lamb in!

On rainy days one often finds her sequestered,

Creating mosaic art where she won’t be pestered.

She studied with masters of glass in Ravenna,

Until she could tell British tan from plain burnt sienna,

But that isn’t all for this Broken Glass Lass!

She always has plans for her next boarding pass--

To stand before the great antiquities of Greece,

Or to take in the bright hues Chagall mixed outside Nice,

To immerse in Scottish Highlands until her blood runs green,

Or to wander simply until the unknown becomes seen.

Be careful! Do not take a misstep as one did,

And ask her a question about how healthcare is funded,

Ms. Dodson’s transformation will be swift and mind-blowing,

Debating with precision until her Harvard degrees are showing.

Nonetheless, as pundit, pianist, author, or cook,

Ms. Dodson is at her best reading her grandson a book.
