David A. Humphries

The author was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. After graduating from university, he backpacked across Europe for a year before returning to obtain his law degree from the University of British Columbia. He settled back in Victoria, met his Argentine wife Margaret, opened his law office, and commenced raising a family. Like many, however, he had always dreamed of doing something a little out of the ordinary, perhaps even something seemingly impossible to achieve. So the author closed his office and off the family went on a journey of a lifetime.

Today, Margaret keeps fit rowing in her single scull. A few years ago, she competed internationally in Edmonton, Alberta, Vancouver, Washington State, Sydney, Australia, and in Belgium. The author struggles to maintain his single digit handicap on the golf course. In 2023, they drove to Newfoundland and back with Annie, their baby Old English Sheep dog, a 9,600 mile (17,000 kilometre) round trip. They have three children, four grandchildren, are still happily married, and still live in Victoria. This is his first book.
