Romaine Washington

Romaine Washington’s poetry has been nominated for Best of the Net, and she is a twice-nominated Pushcart Prize poet. She is the editor of These Black Bodies Are… A Blacklandia Anthology, and the author of two poetry books, Purgatory Has an Address and Sirens in Her Belly. Washington is a graduate fellow of The Watering Hole, South Carolina (the Harlem Renaissance of the South), and a fellow of the Inland Area Writing Project at UC Riverside.

Washington has presented her poetry on CBS Inside SoCal, NPR, KPFK, Beyond Baroque, and the National Poetry Slam. Her writing has been published in several anthologies and literary journals, including The Coachella Review, The Black Scholar, and Lullwater Review: Emory University.
