Joya Misra

Joya Misra is a Professor of Sociology and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her research focuses on inequalities by gender, race, and class, with a particular interest in how policies might be used to mitigate inequality, and create a better, most just world. In addition to her many journal articles, she has co-authored Walking Mannequins with Kyla Walters, about inequalities in retail service work, as well as co-edited Public Sociology, Gendered Lives, Sexual Beings, and The New Handbook of Political Sociology.
