Daniel J Lestrud

Daniel J. Lestrud has trolled the kitchens of New England from Manhattan to rural Connecticut along with Ohio, Nebraska, Washington/Puget Sound, Tennessee and anywhere they would let him in the backdoor. Always searching for the perfect meal and reluctant to accept he may never find it. An Eagle Scout, Navy Reserve Veteran, Certified Executive Chef with the American Culinary Federation, he is also a graduate of Urbana University in Ohio, the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park New York and a sundry of other educational opportunities that has led him to a career teaching culinary arts.

Born in southeastern Idaho, he was moved throughout the continental United States by his parents who were both lifelong educators in higher education and special ed. Throughout his years of living in different regions, he has a unique dialect and will frequently use region specific words and phrases all at once in a single sentence and thoughts that would generally never be thought of. By tying to capture the essence of a region and the people thru food and cuisine he has spent years tying to percolate the great experiment and understand how we all commune together. He has slowly begun to accept it is not what you do that people remember, it’s how you make them feel.
