Debra Spector M.S, R.D.N, C.D.N is a Registered and Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist who has upheld a private practice since 1990 on Long Island, New York (Nassau and Suffolk Counties) as a nutritional therapist, mentor, educator, entrepreneur and consultant. She holds an Undergraduate Degree from SUNY at Oneonta and received her Masters Degree along with completing her Internship at Long Island University. Debra specializes in eating disorders and treats adults, teenagers and adolescents. Her philosophy is meeting everyones needs individually and guiding them to achieve a normal relationship with food, weight, and body image. In addition, Debra strongly believes in guiding teenagers and adolescents away from the “good food vs. bad food” or “healthy vs. unhealthy” philosophy and to encourage them to find a way to make “all foods fit”. Her decision to put together this book of collections was primarily based upon the fact that she believes most people who struggle with eating disorders are either silently struggling alone or misunderstood. Debra believes everyone who struggles with an eating disorder should find their inner voice and be heard. More importantly, she wants those suffering to know that they are not alone.
She has been sitting in the same chair since 1990 listening to the stories of people of all ages, genders, and ethnicities who feel misunderstood and unheard. Her patients are so beyond frustrated with the messages society and, even more importantly, the media has insinuated that we need to be robotic or less than human. In this one size doesn’t fit the same world we live in, she has found a way to provide stories that are truly relevant and relational so each and every person can feel special in their skin.
