at 17, went to USSR for four years of military training as a cadet officer. Soon after coming back from Russia I was dispatched to an ongoing war with a neighboring country. Now, a full artillery lieutenant, commanded an artillery battery composed of multiple specialties totaling of about 80 troops with heavy artillery weapons. Soon after coming back from war, luckily, unharmed, I got married to the mother of my children. sometimes, in 1987 came to USA for a military scholarship ending in 1989. At that time the somali civil war was already at its peak, therefore I decided to seek asylum in Canada. Found refuge in Canada; worked very hard to save money; brought my children over; and sought higher education which I eventually succeeded. After retiring from teaching middle school in 2019, I found writing as a career, which keeps me busy, fulfilled and sharp. thanks .
