Lori Taylor lives in the beautiful beach area of Ontario’s West Coast.
Lori’s life was not always easy. Living in rural Ontario as a young child of divorced parents in the early sixties became relentlessly confusing. Many of her young friends were ordered by their parents to cease playing with Lori which which led her to think something was wrong with her that the children no longer wanted to play. A family member took advantage of her father’s absence to begin what would be a years long trauma of sexual assault. A stepfather entered her life who was both fun and violent, leading to a period when she planned his murder - thwarted only by a dream warning her not to. Entering her teen years lacking in experience in acceptable social skills brought her to the beginning of a painful period of growing up uncertain of the rules and how to stay safe or to fit in.
That accumulated trauma led Lori to cry out to God for help to become a better person, and to the beginning of her love story with her Heavenly Father and closest Friend. She read the Bible cover to cover two times then left high school a year early early to attend Bible college so she could learn more.
Life was a roller coaster for several years; but, Lori always felt the presence of God helping, guiding and loving her. Eventually, she attended college to become a social services worker. There, she learned to understand her own roller coaster of faith and suicidal ideation. She went on to work in emergency shelters for both men and women, and to work in a group home setting with teens who struggled with their own mental health and coping skills.
A bout with cancer pulled Lori out the workplace for a while. It was while she was recovering that she focussed her time and energy into writing her first allegorical novel of the love God has for beaten people. It was goal she had planned for years and finishing it is a success she holds close to her heart.
