I have always loved family history, but it wasn't until later in life that I began researching my ancestors and the stories they left behind. Growing up, I often heard that our family had "been in America forever," so I set out to discover who first made the journey to America and why.

What fascinated me most was what inspired people to leave everything they had ever known to begin a new life in an unfamiliar land. I also wondered whether the qualities that carried them through those journeys—courage, faith, and perseverance—still live on in us and our children today.

Inspired by children's picture book biographies, I turned years of research into simple stories that help young readers discover their family history and perhaps see a little of themselves in it.
