Sofie Ostvedt

Sofie Ostvedt is a pen name used by Pete Jorgensen, an alumnus of Lancaster University, England. With a first class science degree, and a postgraduate master's degree based in social science, Pete has a broad area of expertise. One of his primary interests is the problem of knowledge; particularly areas where science, politics, and social psychology interface.

Pete's pen name was chosen in honour of Anne-Sofie Ostvedt, a member of a WW2 Norwegian resistance group known as XU. One of her first activities was publishing and helping distribute underground news. Anne-Sofie Ostvedt adopted a male name to avoid detection; even many of those in her organization did not know she was a young woman. She lived until 2009.
