Anna Maranto

Anna was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she lived until her family moved to Ithaca, New York when she was eleven. After graduating from high school, she headed south to attend Virginia Tech to study elementary education and history. She then moved to northern Virginia to teach middle school for ten years. During that time, she married her college sweetheart and started a family. Anna earned a masters degree in education from George Mason University, but soon after that her career was put on hold as her family grew.

Teaching introduced her to young adult fiction, though until she had teens of her own, she didn't fully appreciate it. As her three children became more independent, Anna started writing as a hobby, and after many years, she decided to jump feet first into writing a novel. The COVID-19 virus struck midway through her first draft of Letting Go of Normal, and she immediately shifted the focus of the story to include the impact this pandemic had on high school students. She currently lives forty miles outside of Washington, D.C. with her husband and dog. Other than writing, she enjoys cooking, using her spin bike, going to concerts, and playing games with her family.
