Musically, Ziggy’s sound has raised comparisons to the likes of early Ben Howard or Jack Johnson. His honest and personal songwriting explores relationships of love, friendship, and connection with the natural environment.
Having released eight records, founded his independent label Commonfolk Records and publishing house Commonfolk Publishing and played sold-out tours across the globe, Ziggy’s music has amassed millions of fans worldwide.
Ziggy has been was awarded another 9 new Aria Accreditations in April 2021. This brings his accredited repertoire total to 6 Gold Singles, 1 Gold Album, 7 Platinum Singles, 1 Double Platinum single and 1 Platinum EP.
His new album titled ‘searching for freedom’ celebrates the next chapter in the evolution of Ziggy Alberts. The 12-track record is an exploration into some of humanity’s most heartfelt and complex emotions, translated into beautiful simplicity by Alberts’ capable hands. In his own words, this forthcoming album is “an expression of an adventure that I’ve realised will last a lifetime”.
In 2018, Ziggy released his fifth record ‘Laps Around The Sun’ which was premiered on Billboard Magazine and was ‘Feature Album of the Week’ on triple j. In the first week after its release, the album charted to #2 on the ARIA Australian Artist Album Charts, #6 on the ARIA Digital Album Charts and #9 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Ziggy Alberts played over 110 shows in 2019 on his ‘Laps Around The Sun World Tour’. The mammoth tour saw him travel and play to fans across Europe, United Kingdom and North America, all before returning home to Australia in December, to play his biggest sold-out headline tour, to- date. Having played prestigious venues, Hordern Pavilion (Sydney), Fremantle Arts Centre (Fremantle), two nights at Thebarton Theatre (Adelaide), Sidney Myer Music Bowl (Melbourne), and ending at Riverstage (Brisbane), this tour leg was a major career milestone for the singer-songwriter.
