Howard McCarthy

Howard attended Southern Connecticut where he majored in Biology and took a minor in English. He served in the United States Army and attended college under the G.I. bill. After college, he went out west and lived in Montana for ten years. While there, he lived and worked on both the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Reservations. He spent years researching Crazy Horse and Custer and the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He traveled over much of the area that was Isaiah's mail route. Howard lived close to the battlefield and often visited the place on the battlefield where Isaiah was killed. He walked over the battlefield many times, both the Reno and Custer battlefields, and regularly visited the museum located there. He spent a great deal of time thinking about Isaiah's life and the lives of many of the participants in that battle.
