Amelia Loken

Amelia Loken writes Young Adult novels, both Fantasy and Contemporary fiction. She previously worked as an ASL/English interpreter, until she became hard-of-hearing herself. She is a passionate advocate for disability rights and enjoys using her experience and education to craft stories in which disabled characters have adventures, find joy, fall in love, and win the day.

As a daughter of a librarian, she learned from a young age that stories have power, and she enjoys using that power to forge bridges from the shards of old obstacles. Her many joys and hobbies show up in her stories like feral animals at her backdoor, determined to stay. These include swordplay, embroidery, music, theology, disability rights, and the history of pirates. Amelia lives in Arkansas on the edge of a wood with her husband, five sons, and (officially) no other animals.
