Frederic Maitre

Frédéric Maître is an experienced traveler, introspective writer, and passionate seeker of meaning. Born and raised in France, he has always been drawn to the call of the unknown and the transformative power of travel. His life has been shaped by his commitment to exploring the world and discovering himself, often blending these two dimensions through deeply personal experiences.

With a rich professional background spanning international relations and creative projects, Frédéric has spent decades observing and connecting with diverse cultures. His passion for discovery has taken him to the far corners of the world and inspired his writing, where he skillfully combines vivid storytelling with profound existential reflection.

In his fifties, Frédéric embarked on the Camino de Santiago, an experience that changed his life. What began as a physical challenge quickly transformed into a spiritual and emotional odyssey, pushing him to confront his own fears, doubts, and hidden strengths. This transformative pilgrimage inspired his first book, The Wolf of Santiago, where he invites readers to embark on their own journey of introspection and self-discovery.

Since this life-changing experience, Frédéric has returned every year to walk a new pilgrimage route. He has traversed the Portuguese Coastal Way, the Central Portuguese Route, the Portuguese Interior Way, and the Sanabrés Way. These annual journeys not only fuel his writing but also nurture his spirit and his desire to share the lessons drawn from these unique adventures.

When not traveling or writing, Frédéric dedicates time to his family, cultivates his love for art and nature, and inspires others to embrace life’s uncertainties. His work resonates with those in search of meaning, offering a rare blend of adventure and heartfelt wisdom.
