Trina R Eddy

Trina R. Eddy is the CEO and Owner of A Canine Experience, Inc., a multigenerational, family-owned dog training and care facility that has been shaping confident dogs and empowered handlers since 1995. With a career spanning decades of hands-on animal training, business leadership, and community involvement, Trina is widely respected for her balanced, thoughtful, and results-driven approach to canine behavior and professional development.

Raised in the small town of Snohomish, Washington, Trina’s journey with animals began early. At eight years old, she joined rabbit 4-H, igniting a lifelong passion for animal care, handling, and training. By the age of fifteen, she was already working professionally as a dog trainer. Over the years, she has worked with a wide range of species both personally and professionally, developing a deep understanding of behavior, learning theory, and the human–animal bond.

Trina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Central Washington University, with concentrations in Finance, Management, and Organization, and a minor in Economics. After graduating in 2000, she spent six years as a financial planner, gaining extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting, tax preparation, employee benefits, and organizational management. This business foundation continues to influence her leadership style and operational decisions today.

Trina is the CEO and Owner of A Canine Experience, Inc., applying both her business expertise and animal training experience to guide the company’s continued growth and evolution. A. C. E. was originally founded in 1995 by her mother, Nancy Baer, as a dog trainer school. Nancy later expanded the business into a full-service boarding and training facility before retiring and passing ownership and operations to the next generation. Today, A.C.E. is proudly owned and operated by Trina, her sisters Andrea Kelley and Jessica Brill, and her daughter Autumn Baer, making it a rare and powerful example of a women-led, multigenerational family business.

In addition to overseeing daily operations, Trina is deeply committed to education and mentorship. She teaches aspiring dog trainers and pet care professionals how to build sustainable, ethical businesses in dog training, boarding, pet sitting, and dog walking. Her guidance blends real-world business strategy with practical, humane training principles.

Trina is also a published author. Her book, Lead or Be Led 2.0 – The Guide to A.C.E. Training, outlines the philosophies and strategies used within A Canine Experience’s training programs. Originally written for A.C.E. clients, the book serves as a practical resource for dog owners seeking clarity, structure, and stronger relationships with their dogs.

A lifelong learner, Trina spends much of her time advancing her education in odor detection training, canine genetics, early development, structure and movement, K9 fitness, and modern training methodologies. She specializes in Diabetic Alert Dogs, Search and Rescue (SAR) K9 teams, and other scent detection applications. Trina and her German Shepherd, Glacier, volunteered for Snohomish County Search and Rescue for several years and are currently involved with Cascadia Search Dogs.

In support of SAR teams, Trina developed the online course “SAR K9 Fitness: Fundamentals for Enhanced Movement,” with additional progressive levels designed to enhance canine performance and longevity. All proceeds from these courses are donated to Cascadia Search Dogs to support education and operational readiness.

At the core of Trina’s philosophy is the belief that effective dog training is built on supportive leadership, trust, and play. She emphasizes training methods that foster engagement and partnership, often inspired by the environment itself. Trina encourages dog owners to pursue activities that are meaningful to both handler and dog whether competitive, functional, or recreational.

Trina has helped hundreds of dog owners work through challenges such as fear, reactivity, aggression, overstimulation, poor manners, and lack of engagement. Her experience spans all stages of life, from newborn puppies to adult dogs, including service dog prospect selection, task training, and public access preparation. She also assists clients with breed research, identifying ethical breeders, puppy selection, and educating the public on the critical role of genetics and early development.

Beyond her professional work, Trina is adventurous and deeply connected to the outdoors. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, traveling, exploring new places, and spending time with her dogs often designing creative obstacle courses and enrichment activities inspired by nature.

Looking ahead, Trina and A Canine Experience, Inc. will be featured in an upcoming documentary slated for release in mid-2026, centered on the theme of Women in Power. The film highlights women-led leadership, legacy businesses, and the impact of strong female leadership within traditionally male-dominated industries. While details are still unfolding, the project reflects the values, resilience, and vision that define Trina’s work and her family’s business.

Trina R. Eddy continues to be a trusted leader, educator, and advocate within the dog training community, dedicated to elevating both canine welfare and human understanding through A Canine Experience.
