Mary Buchanan

Mary Buchanan, better known as The Madison County Storyteller, writes women’s fiction where love, second chances, and a little bit of mischief bloom right alongside the wildflowers.

A retired educator from North Florida, Mary didn’t slow down after retirement. She just started telling better stories. After personal loss, she turned to writing during the pandemic and discovered what her students probably knew all along… she had a lot to say.

Her award-winning Madison County Series delivers small-town charm, strong women, unexpected twists, and just enough humor to make you laugh when you didn’t plan to. Her books have earned a Silver Medal for What a Christmas Kerfuffle and a Bronze Medal for Love Notes: The Story of Grace in the 2024 Global Book Awards.

Mary also encourages others to tell their own stories through her guide, The Memoir: Don’t Forget to Remember, helping families preserve the moments that matter most.

When she’s not writing, she’s likely on her porch in Madison County, creating her next story… or minding someone else’s business (for research, of course).

Come to Madison County, where love and second chances bloom alongside the wildflowers.
