James P. Bruce

Jim Bruce, or James Patrick as he was christened, was born in south inner-city Dublin, Ireland.

He spent the greater part of his adult life in banking. In 1997 Jim left the bank to work as an independent management consultant. Then in 2005 he switched to writing. He spent the next two years working on 'Faithful Servant: A Memoir of Brian Cleeve'. Self-published in 2007, this is a biography of the author and broadcaster who was also a mentor and friend.

In 2008 Jim decided to study history at undergraduate and later postgraduate levels. This took him to universities in Ireland and Britain. In 2019 he was awarded an MLitt by the University of Oxford.

Since then Jim has written three books, all of which are available to buy online.

Jim lives not far from the Dublin/Wicklow border and continues to write for academic and general audiences.
