Joe DeBruin

Dr. Joe DeBruin is a role model for bad-assed authenticity and masculine vulnerability based on the grace of God. Brene Brown cracked open the conversation about masculine vulnerability, and Joe DeBruin, Ph.D., has deepened it. Not only that, he shows what it's like to jump in the vulnerability well. He is a licensed psychologist in California. Dr. DeBruin maintains a busy coaching (online) and therapy practice on the central coast of California providing cognitive behavioral treatment for adults suffering from depression and anxiety. Another way to describe what he offers: encouragement and inspiration coaching. Dr. DeBruin has provided over 25,000 psychotherapy and coaching sessions starting in 1993.

Dr. DeBruin is currently a consulting forensic psychologist with the California Department of State Hospitals. Dr. DeBruin has qualified as an expert witness in dozens of counties in California and has testified in front of judges or juries approximately 600 times. He has conducted and written over two thousand forensic evaluations.

Dr. DeBruin also provides supportive emergency consulting and psychological treatment to police officers in multiple police departments including the California Highway Patrol.

Dr. DeBruin holds an M.A. in counseling psychology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington. Dr. DeBruin completed an American Psychological Association approved clinical internship at the Arkansas State Hospital.

Dr. DeBruin is passionate about arguing opinions in court based on mainstream scientific data and knowledge. Joe is also zealous about encouraging everyone from surgeons and professors to athletes and CEO’s. His new career addition as an author is meant to both poke at people in a loving way as an agitator towards change and health while combining his zeal for encouragement and inspiration.
