James Greco, a southern California resident since 1971, relies on his Italian-American ancestry and experience as a journalist, technical writer, teacher, attorney, city government aide, and land planner as grist for his historical fiction.
The Spokane native became dedicated to writing after enrolling in a junior high journalism course to impress a cute little redhead whose father was managing editor of a local daily. He subsequently earned a journalism degree at the University of Montana and a juris doctorate at California Western School of Law.
Prior to becoming an author, he served as chief aide to a San Diego city councilmember, as a redevelopment agency executive, and as a principle and owner of a private land planning firm. He also taught part-time at three California universities.
He resides in San Diego county with his wife Jane. They have two adult sons and three grandchildren.
