Jessica E Pierce

A Pushcart Prize and Best New Poets nominee, Jessica Pierce has published poems or has work forthcoming in magazines including CALYX Journal, New Ohio Review, Bellingham Review, The Madison Review, The New Haven Review, Tar River Poetry, JMWW, Euphony, Painted Bride Quarterly (which also featured her work in the Slush Pile podcast), and Northwest Review. Nimrod International Journal selected her as a finalist for the 2020 and 2021 Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry. She was also a finalist in the 2020 Lois Cranston Memorial Poetry Prize from CALYX Journal, a finalist in New Ohio Review’s 2019 NORward Prize for Poetry, a finalist in the 2019 MVICW Poetry Contest, and the recipient of a 2019 MVICW Poet Fellowship. She earned her Ed.M. from Harvard and works in a large public school district in Oregon to dismantle racist discipline policies and replace them with anti-racist, restorative, and trauma-informed policies and practices. Her debut collection, Consider the Body, Winged, was released in September 2021 by First Matter Press.
