Charles M. Harper Sr

Charles M. Harper Sr., MBA, BA, CDP, is currently a Diversity and Inclusion Manager for MHMR of Tarrant County with staff of over 2,000 professionals. MHMR provides community-based services for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), mental health conditions, and substance use disorders, as well as babies and young children with developmental delays.

Previously, Charles has successfully created diversity, equity, and inclusion practices for a national paratransit and non-emergency medical transportation organization. His methods have also been implemented by other organizations providing similar services.

Charles has been a diversity and inclusion consultant for over 12 years whose clients have included fraternal, educational, and governmental agencies, as well as some media and entertainment professionals. He is a certified US History Educator, a published author of three books, and he is a successful playwright and actor of the monodrama, Black and White: A Man

Divided. Charles has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts, double majoring in history and philosophy, with a minor in cultural anthropology. He also has an MBA. He completed both degrees at the University of Arizona Global Campus. Charles has served in the US Navy and spent 13 years as a Local 150 Operating Engineer. He returned to college to pursue his degrees after a career-ending back injury in 2009.

Currently, Charles is a Ph.D. Candidate in Business Management, with a focus in Human Resources. His dissertation focus is in the embedment of inclusion practices within the knowledge sharing functions of organizational knowledge management.

Charles is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He has professional memberships with the Society of Human Resources Management, the Texas Diversity Council, the Fort Worth HR group, the Mid-Cities Human Resource Association, the NAACP, the NBMBAA, American Historical Association, American Anthropology Association, and the National Speakers Association. Charles also serves as the Secretary for the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program
