PAULA GARB grew up in Colorado and California. She has a PhD in cultural anthropology from the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Anthropology. Most of her books, chapters and articles are about her journeys in former Soviet republics, and her experiences facilitating citizen dialogues in conflict zones of the South Caucasus. She has taught university courses in mediation, conflict resolution, civic and community engagement, and gang mediation. She is a senior fellow at the Center for Peacemaking Practice at George Mason University.
