“When I’m laughing and crying a lot at the laptop, I know I’m writing something that is going to make an impact on someone somewhere.”
Rebecca Cullen is a Los Angeles-based author, screenwriter, and copywriter. She started out as an assistant to the writers of Poltergeist and Marked for Death. She then went on to sell original pilots, pitch jokes with Jimmy Caan, and has currently put her cynicism aside to write a romance for the Hallmark Channel.
Rebecca’s screenwriting background led to her interest in creative non-fiction. When she began writing non-fiction books she realized that any writing, whether fiction or non-fiction, needs to have universal truths that draw readers in.
In 2019, Rebecca was honored to collaborate with former Airline CEO David Banmiller to write Turbulence. She worked with David to hone his stories and shape a fascinating behind-the-curtains look at 50 years inside the turbulent airline industry. Turbulence helped propel David’s thought leadership in the world of aviation. He has made guest appearances on several podcasts and is a regular CNBC commentator.
Reena Gupta found Rebecca online, and they fell in step right from the start—their strengths and talents forming a perfect yin and yang for three reasons.
The first was the benefit of writing Rebecca (and Reena's) latest book, Career Interrupted, from two divergent backgrounds.
The second part of their magical formula was the complementary talents that they both bring to the table. Reena has an incredibly impressive background of knowledge in the talent industry; Rebecca has her expert writing skills.
Thirdly, there was a soul-sister bond that formed, which neither had anticipated from Reena randomly finding Rebecca on LinkedIn. It’s partly an East meets West sharing of ideas and learning from each other, accidentally becoming key support players in each other’s lives. As they delved deeper into what they wanted to say, they scrapped the original outline, carving out a path together with a much deeper, stronger message.
Rebecca hopes that the passion that she and Reena both share for empowering each and every person to find their calling and live a rich and rewarding life resonates with anyone who feels disenfranchised, left behind, or at a career crossroads in their life. Rebecca's mission is to pass on the experience of work-life harmony that she was lucky to share with Reena in the writing of this important book.
