Nyah believes that writing is fighting. He began writing poetry and short stories as a teenager, and honed his skills at the University of South Dakota where he earned a double major in English and Political Science from the University of South Dakota. Nyah has experience as a professional grant writer, leveraging his writing talents to raise funds in support of advancing nonprofit missions. In addition to the written word, he is a practiced spoken word poet, and has won competitions in his home state of South Dakota, Iowa, and Florida. He has an appreciation for structural- theory that is pronounced in his poetry, and holds hope that his work might open minds and hearts to the fierce urgency of building a more beloved community. When not writing, Nyah enjoys life with his wife and serves nonprofits that aim to build a racially reconciled world.
