Marissa is a teacher, cook & writer. She is the author of the Tales of Charles Island series. Born and raised in Connecticut, she holds New England close to her heart and many of her stories are based in the Connecticut suburbs.
She has a deep and profound respect for people with special needs as her first job in her field was a special educator. Marissa found her voice through writing. While in high school, she was the editor of the Arts and Entertainment section of the school newspaper. There, she assisted all students including one with disabilities, to write articles for her section. She pursued a degree in Education, minoring in English literature and Anthropology. Later, she went back to school to better understand Autism and graduated with a Master's in Special Education.
Marissa is a member of the Maryland Writer's Association. She spends much of her time reading, writing and volunteering with her local animal shelter. When she isn’t reading her favorite mystery or fantasy novels, she’ll be looking through food magazines for new recipes to try.
