Kamlesh Sahu

Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Sahu has done Ph.D. from Calcutta University, Master of Philosophy in Psychiatric Social Work (M. Phil. PSW) at Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi, Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from Ranchi University. He has more than 17 years of experience in the Mental Health field. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor in Psychiatric Social Work at the Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, India His experience includes teaching and supervision of postgraduate trainees, planning, execution, evaluation and coordination of counselling/mental health /psychosocial rehabilitation services and research. More than 60+ publications are in his credit in international and national journals of reputes, (four) books chapters and also two edited books. He has presented papers in international and national seminars and conferences. Supervised 24 M. Phil. dissertations and completed three funded projects. His area of interest includes brief psychosocial interventions, psychosocial rehabilitation, and stigma alleviation.

Dr. Sahu is the Hon. General Secretary, Indian Society of Professional Social Work formerly non as Indian Society of Psychiatric Social Work (ISPSW). He is the Editor in Chief of the ‘Indian Journal of Psychiatric Social Work’ which was published first in 1972 at the Central Institute of Psychiatry. He received Editorial Excellence Award 2018 by the International Institute of Organized Research (I2OR) for his significant editorial contribution. He is a founder executive editor of the Journal of Disability Studies; section editor of a PubMed indexed Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine. He is also serving as an editorial board member and reviewer in more than 10 journals. He is very keen on scholarly publications, particularly open access publications. He has successfully upgraded and transformed many conventional journals into open access modern journals. He is a recipient of the Preeminent Researcher and Educator Award 2019 by Green ThinkerZ; 5th South Asian Education Awards 2020 for Research in Excellence. Instrumental in organizing various international and national conferences; recently organized various webinars.
