Bilal Shaw

Bilal Shaw is a Kashmiri-American computer scientist who completed his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the University of Southern California. His doctoral thesis was in quantum information science. He also completed an additional undergraduate degree in mathematics from Whittier College. In addition to solving problems in quantum information science, he has contributed to DNA nanotechnology and self-assembly. He currently lives in Los Angeles and works as a Senior Director of Data Science for TransUnion. He applies machine-learning to solve fraud, risk, and identity problems in fintech. With Tony Barnstone he published a book of translations, "Faces Hidden in the Dust", of Ghalib's Urdu ghazals into English under the White Pine Press banner. With Anthony Lee, Bilal has also recently published a book of translations of Mir Taqi Mir’s Urdu ghazals to English, titled "The Plague of Love" through Nirala Publications.
