Melissa Mwai

Melissa H. Mwai is a children's author and illustrator. She's written six nonfiction books including NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS ENCYCLOPEDIA OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE, (NGK ‘26), I CAN MAKE A FRIEND (Paw Prints, '25), and A PUERTO RICAN CHILDHOOD (DK, '24). As an neurodiverse Afro-Latina, Melissa is thrilled her books help ethnically diverse and neurodiverse kids develop literacy and grow more confident. Melissa co-hosts the KidLit Deconstruction Zone Podcast for writers. She lives with her husband, two kids, and bunny.
