Dr William M Bauer

Dr. Bill Bauer (William M. Bauer, Ph.D., CRC, LPC, ALPS) is a licensed clinical counselor, educator, speaker, and award-winning children's author whose life's work has been dedicated to supporting children, families, and individuals with disabilities.

Born with a severe bilateral hearing impairment, Dr. Bauer has transformed his personal experiences into a lifelong commitment to education, disability advocacy, and mental health. He earned a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Nisonger Center, and has served as a classroom teacher, school principal, college professor, and licensed clinical counselor.

Drawing on decades of professional experience, Dr. Bauer specializes in autism spectrum disorders, rehabilitation counseling, trauma-informed care, disability adjustment, anxiety and mood disorders, and inclusive education. His books encourage empathy, kindness, acceptance, and understanding while celebrating the unique strengths of every child.

As the author of the acclaimed It's Okay! series, Dr. Bauer writes for children, families, educators, counselors, and libraries, helping readers build more inclusive schools and communities. Through both his counseling practice and his writing, he remains committed to ensuring that every child is understood, respected, and empowered to thrive.
