Marilyn Carvin

Marilyn Ball Carvin, a California native, was raised in Glendale. She wrote two monthly columns for the Glendale News Press reporting on activities at Holy Family High School and in the Glendale Junior Council. She holds a Bachelor of Art’s degree in English from Mount St. Mary’s College (now Mount St. Mary’s University) in Brentwood, California. After obtaining a Secondary Teaching Credential, she served as a substitute teacher in Whittier, while she and her husband George raised their four children and several cats that found them.

For fifteen years she was also a volunteer tutor in the Compton area. She and her husband moved to Orange County in 2016, where she currently lives in the City of Laguna Hills. A few of her short stories and poems can be found in the three volumes of “The Truth That Can’t Be Told”, an anthology series published by the Lake Forest Writers’ Round Table.

Her latest publication, ¡Viva California!—a historical novel set in 1800s Alta California—was 25 years in the making.
