I love outdoor murals, beautiful wall art. It's a big canvas and it lets the artist express his or her idea fully. With the ever-changing sunlight and shadows throughout any given day, the image is always rediscovering itself. At the same time, through that tantalizing instability, the emotions contained in a work of art are on display without question or ambiguity. As an author, I strive to do the same with my characters as well as with the story itself. After all, the blank page, my canvas, is limitless, and I try my best, in unexpected ways, to bring the largeness of life, its complexity, to my readers. The best way to do that for me, the author, and you, the reader, is not to judge the characters and their choices but to understand them. Although the profile shown here is seven years old, I still feel the same way I did at the source of this fine work.
