Dr David Fengwei Xie graduated with a PhD degree in Polysaccharide Engineering in 2009 from South China University of Technology. He started his research career initially at the University of Guelph (Canada). Then, after a productive eight years at The University of Queensland (Australia), in 2017 he moved to the University of Warwick (UK) by accepting a Marie Curie fellowship (actually, it turned out to be two). In 2020, he was awarded a five-year EPSRC Fellowship, which enables him to further work towards his research ambition. While his early studies focused primarily on starch extrusion, he has grown his strong expertise in polymer science and engineering and is passionate about applying particularly renewable and bio- polymers to addressing pressing challenges in sustainability, environmental, health, and food areas.
