I was crawling on my hands and knees up in the attic where in amongst the cobwebs, fibreglass and rat droppings I discovered some dusty old photos from my schooldays of playing in bands. It was in that moment that the memories of all the bandmates, gigs, auditions, contests, rehearsals and crazy hairstyles not to mention all the hours and hours of relentless practising came flooding back to me. It was spring of 2020 as half the world was in lockdown and I was crawling around in the loft that the idea first came to me of writing my first book Alfred and the 67 day challenge.
Alfred has only 67 days to get a band together that is capable of winning the battle of the bands competition. The Time Bandits dare to dream as they embark on a quest to perform at the Hightown summer festival. The journey is strewn with pitfalls as these young musicians begin to discover, it's a long way to the top if you wanna rock'n'roll!
The funny sketches bring this motivational story to life and will inspire young musicians and 'big kids' alike or indeed anyone who has played in a band or dreamed of performing their music on stage. This book is suitable for children aged 9 and over.
