Throughout many decades writing has been my way of sorting thoughts and experiences. I particularly recommend it as help in making sense of our complex, rapidly changing and often conflicting world.

Other than professional writing I've only published one nonfiction story though colleagues often urged me to share my observations and thoughts in print. While I envied their expertise in any specific realm they applauded me for typically seeing "the big picture" or "the forest through the trees". When I left nursing management and special service development at the hospital I spent some of my time as a nurse/counselor prompting high school students to channel their anxieties with writing - rather than other substances. I can only hope it helped a few of them.

For many years my insecurities seemed to contrast starkly with the free-spiritedness of my stepdaughters; and my own daughter had ample reasons to feel the same. But later in life I learned not all is how it appears.

I wrote my book for the secure and the insecure; the adventurous and the timid. Anyone who needs to appreciate their own or another's courage in handling troubles. And those with interest in learning how the nature outside of us, and inside us, promotes healing and happiness.

Degrees in both science and art ultimately supported my broader thinking, though the more natural artist in me always felt less comfortable and capable in scientific/medical arenas.

I love seeing and doing what's artistic: gardens, nature photography, beaded jewelry; or creatively arranging anything anywhere.

I'm passionate about nature, animals (especially my cat companions), and kindness.

I believe any stressful day can be better with truth and kindness.
