Carmen Pittman

Carmen Pittman was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and she is the fifth of seven children. It became clear that Carmen had a passion for writing at a young age, but life would not afford her the ability to develop her skills just yet. After graduating high school, she was thrown into battle against predatory lending that had foreclosed her family home. She not only fought for her house against banks but became an example of someone who stands up and fights back in her community which was experiencing record foreclosures and gentrification. Carmen’s strength and honor come from her late grandmother who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2011. Eloise Pittman, Carmen’s grandmother, was the epitome of an encouraging and loving family member. Carmen knows better than anyone that having someone who supports you endlessly is the ultimate secret to success in life. That’s why Carmen dedicates her life to be that person for others who need her in the corner championing them.

She now has two children, and as a single parent, she takes pride in loving & caring for her children with the same energy and zeal she brings to everything and everyone. Carmen has come a long way and every moment was a battle, but she is a testament that with persistence and support, everything is possible. Not only has she achieved success but she has redefined it to mean serving her community, serving her family, and fighting for justice.
