I’ve always liked writing, I sold a few articles over the years, but three children, a more than full time job as a fishery officer with the Environment Agency / NRA and a small holding with exmoor ponies and jersey cows which I ran with my wife Elaine, meant l didn’t have that much time to spare. Then in 2016 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and I took early retirement; weirdly I then went through a really productive writing phase. I completed two novels and made a good start on two others. I have had the idea of writing a coming of age book involving angling in the back of my mind for some time. Angling has been proven to steer young adults away from negative influences. I also wanted to tie this theme into an adventure story and a Ripple in Joes Pond emerged.
