Douglas A. Young

I’ve been a history nut all my life, even to the point of majoring in history in college. When I look back on my life, I realize I have become my own history project. Few are the combat veterans of the war in Vietnam whose son was born while there in 1967, who met his future wife there in 1969 and now has two adult Vietnamese daughters. I’ve lived there three times: 1967, 1969 and 2005-06 and found wartime Vietnam is very different indeed than peacetime Vietnam.

Life has treated me well. Having lived in Florida, New York, New Mexico and now in Texas, my travels have opened me up to new ideas and experiences. I received my bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College and have a master’s from the University of New Mexico.
