Astrid Cheney

Astrid Cheney holds a master’s degree in education from the University of California at Berkeley. She was an elementary school teacher for twenty-six years in Oakland, California, at one of the largest inner city schools, where she mentored many special needs children. The advice she offers is therefore based not only on her success as a parent in raising Dorica, but also on her experience working with such children professionally. Ms. Cheney offers book readings through professional organizations she is part of, and holds workshops on the topics covered for parents and teachers.
