Doug Edwards

Doug Edwards was a performing musician for many years and through a series of events in his life moved from his home state of North Carolina to Oklahoma. The Oklahoma change was a 2 year venture that lead to Orlando, Florida where his career moved from music to student ministry through Youth For Christ in the Campus Life area of service. He spent 6 years in the Orlando, Central Florida Surrounding Area. This includedDaytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach Areas and later South Lake County which is a close community to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Theme Parks. Doug and his wife Colleen then spent 29 years as Pastors to Students and Families in the North Lake County community. Though music was a love of Colleen and Doug, they used those talents as volunteers for their church and community. As God would have it, student and family ministry to adolescence and college age students would become their passion.

Doug's training through Youth For Christ on a national level expanded his world view of ministry and his passion far beyond the walls of his church. The church that hired him had a similar vision and a desire to change a community and an area. True student ministry is made up of volunteer mature leaders who have been told the importance of the mission and that their part is going to be harder than they expect not easy. This student ministry would impact the area by developing student leaders and winning the trust of parents, church leaders, schooling government officials and then having Mass Impact events periodically to show love for the students, family and community by a selfless church and student ministry staff and student, parent, adult volunteer based group that would put God and community above their own self. Doug's leadership was that of a servant more than a leader. How can I be there for you, typeof a leader.That was modeled to his staff.

Doug's children grew up in the community and the student ministry as well and supported their mom and dad even during very difficult times. Ryan, Chris and Holly are now married with children and of course, pets! Doug and Colleen remain to this day in the community they served for so long and are grateful for the many friendships.

Doug is the host and founder of Youth Worker On Fire which is a Podcast and YouTube Channel. BURN UP Not Out is the 1st published book with others written but not yet published.
