Although I often grew up in the worlds of my imagination and daydreams, I am originally from Michigan. I grew up, more specifically, in the Upper Peninsula. Yes, that makes me a bona fide Yooper!
My interest in writing started when I was quite young, probably around the time my father was teaching me how to write in my very first journal. I was writing my own short stories and attempts at books when I was in elementary. There was always something about that movie playing in my head that I just wanted to get down in writing.
I am also a cancer survivor. It was a form of sarcoma that I suffered when I was eleven years old and again when I was thirteen. That period of my life played a large role in shaping some of my character today, and made me realize that, no matter the size of the contribution, I need to offer something to the world that could offer aid and wisdom to those who need it. This idea shaped my later writing and, indeed, my very first published book: Curse of the Bone Dragon.
