When I was in the Army, I was stationed in Turkey. I got sent to a detachment to do some radio teletype communication repair. I saw a plaque on the wall signed by Astronauts John Glenn (Friendship 7) and Alan Shepherd. They got trapped in a low orbit and saw the Ark. The Maximum altitude gain was 100 miles which put them in low orbit that allowed them to easily spot the Ark from the sky. They decided to come to Turkey (which was one of my detachments) and try to find it (1968).
It wasn’t until 1986 that Ron Wyatt came to the same spot and did ultrasound magnetic resonance and mapped out the Ark. Turkey created Noah’s Ark National Park. He was the first one to establish the Ark was authentic. He mapped out the actual measurements and they were correct according to the Biblical account.
The problem with locating the Ark was that it was not on the mountain. The Anchor Stones were separated from the Ark (ship). They assumed that the Anchor stones were further down the mountain than the ship because of their weight. However, the Astronauts saw the true picture from orbit when they realized the Ark was not on top of the mountain, but slid down.
The anchor stones are set in Mount Arat in the foothills of a town. Anchor stones were weights hung off the back of the ship on long columns like runners used as ballast to keep the big waves from capsizing the ship. If you wanted to put a lot of weight on a ship you could move the weights to the back of the boat on ropes and it stabilized the ships. They were tons heavy. They were also used as navigation devices hanging on the rear of the vessel. If you hung one lower than the other then the ship would steer the direction of the intent. The Kon Tiki used the same concept when building a Polynesian raft used for sailing (1980’s). When one ballast was hung lower than the other and raising the sails, it could be directed.
